“Twenty-first century belongs to Asia” – is not just an empty jingoistic slogan raised by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Instead, the slogan is a bold expression of faith in the wholesome roots of the Asian cultures and civilisations that have contributed so immensely to the evolution of the mankind; and still makes many more promises for the progress of the mankind underlying the principles of love, amity and universal brotherhood – embedded in the humanitarian wisdom enshrined in the classical Asian literatures.
The Asian Renaissance, which is long due, still awaits its turn to become a powerful cultural movement underlying the values of benevolence (alobha); loving kindness (adosa); and knowledge-and-wisdom (amoha) not only for Asia but for the whole world in the twenty-first century to effect global peace and sustainable progress for our planet.tHE
